In this episode the guys sit down with Don Blair. Don’s long career has spanned everything from Border Patrol, Law Enforcement, JSOC and all the way to pets. They talk about detection, the future of the TSA program, the integration of Border Patrol into Homeland Security and the Border Patrol K9 program being the single largest law enforcement K9 program in the world. They talk at length about the day-to-day operations of a Border Patrol K9 team and how the US uses them to stop the flow of money, drugs, guns and human smuggling. They also talk about the much touted “Border Patrol Test” including the infamous copper pipe. They cover evolution of those tests from the beginnings as the US Customs test and the Dutch detection tests. The guys also get into certifications, the NORT test, defense attorneys and chicken clicking. They talk at length about the importance of training records and WHY you shouldn’t shy away from logging mistakes in maintenance training.
